The procedure for deleting external volumes and virtual volumes to reduce data copy load is as follows.

  1. Cancel allocation of the virtual volumes to be deleted to the migration destination server.

For the allocation cancellation procedure, see Canceling allocation of volumes to compute nodes (Cloud) in the VSP One SDS Block and SDS Cloud System Administration.

  2. Detach the Azure managed disk corresponding to the virtual volume and external volume to be deleted from the Azure Virtual Machines of the initiator node by using the Azure portal.

For details about how to find an Azure managed disk corresponding to the virtual volume and external volume to be deleted, see step 19 of Adding initiator nodes.

    CAUTION:

If the Azure managed disk cannot be detached, perform maintenance blocking for the initiator node, and then detach the Azure managed disk while the Azure Virtual Machines of the initiator node is stopped. Then, perform maintenance recovery for the initiator node. For details about the maintenance procedures for the initiator node, contact customer support.

  3. Perform step 9 to 12 in Stopping data migration.
