When an event log indicating that a failure has occurred that exceeds the guaranteed fault tolerance of the storage cluster (KARS10911-C), the Hitachi design team considers action to take via customer support.

Then, if the design team determines that it is necessary to restore storage cluster configuration, Hitachi maintenance personnel perform storage cluster configuration restore with user's approval.

For storage cluster restore operations, Hitachi maintenance personnel reinstall VSP One SDS Block and then rebuild a storage cluster from configuration backup files in the presence of a user. Then, if a spare node was configured at the time of configuration backup, they prepare a spare node and reregister the spare node to a storage cluster. This sequence of operations is called restore.

CAUTION:
  • The restore target does not include user data.
  • For the spare nodes to be prepared after configuration restore completes, match the installation location of each component with the location before hardware replacement for configuration restore.
