Procedures in this section only apply to the case in which you prepare spare nodes to a storage cluster for which restoring configuration completes.
This section describes how to verify whether spare node switchover is possible.
-
Obtain a list of event logs.
CLI: event_log_list
If you receive no response after waiting approximately 1 minute, stop the CLI command forcibly with Ctrl+C, and then retry the operation. If the problem persists, contact the Hitachi design team.
The required parameters are as follows:
-
--ignore_certificate_errors
-
--user <user-with-Security-or-Storage-or-Monitor-or-Service-role>
-
--host <IP-address-obtained-in-step-1-in-Restoring>
You will be prompted to enter the password after running the command. Ask the system administrator to enter the password.

Verify that event log KARS10732-I is output for each storage node that was
subject to registration in Registering BMC information of storage
nodes.
Note:
Event log KARS10732-I might not be output depending on the storage cluster operation status, such as when failover occurred immediately after the procedure of Registering BMC information of storage nodes was performed. In such a case, if event log KARS10720-I or KARS10721-I is output, there is no problem with this operation for verifying spare node function settings.
-
Verify that event log KARS10722-I is output for each fault domain that was
subject to registration in Registering spare node
information.
Note:
Event log KARS10722-I might not be output depending on the storage cluster operation status, such as when failover occurred immediately after the procedure of Registering spare node information was performed. In such a case, if event log KARS10720-I or KARS10721-I is output, there is no problem with this operation for verifying spare node function settings.
-
If no expected event log was output in steps 2 and 3, verify that an event log
for which no action was taken is output, and then troubleshoot it.
CAUTION:
If event log KARS10777-W is output, the target storage node does not support the spare node function, and therefore, spare node switchover might not be possible. Also, if event log KARS10778-W is output, the target spare node does not support the spare node function, and therefore, spare node switchover might not be possible. For details about server models that support spare node switchover, see the VSP One SDS Block Bare Metal Hardware Compatibility Reference.
After the problem has been resolved, verify that the expected event logs indicated in steps 2 and 3 are output again.
