Replication is a key capability in enterprise object storage systems. In VSP One Object, replication happens at the bucket level, allowing you to manage and copy data across different regions. It operates asynchronously between geographically dispersed data centers (for example, between the U.S. and Europe or Asia).

If a disaster, such as a major earthquake, disrupts an entire data center, replicated buckets in other regions retain nearly all object data and associated metadata. You can then manually redirect application access to a surviving replicated bucket to resume operations (failover). Once the original bucket is restored and synchronized, you can switch access back to it (failback), provided replication is set up as bi-directional.

Replication is fully S3-compatible, so you can manage it using the AWS CLI, SDKs, or the Storage Manager interface. Currently, replication supports up to two regions.
