VSP One Block Administrator provides simplified management of a storage system.
You can perform initial setup of the storage system and manage detailed operations by seamlessly launching the maintenance utility or the CLI command input window from the VSP One Block Administrator interface. For details on how to use the maintenance utility or the CLI, see the relevant documentation.
VSP One Block Administrator allows you to quickly build an environment with a storage system and its resources, such as pools, where you can perform simple operations using a web-based user interface without having to consider complicated storage system configurations.
The following describes the web-based user interface of VSP One Block Administrator, and the information displayed on the dashboard.
Operation targets and operation menus are displayed in accordance with the access permissions assigned to the user performing the procedure.
Navigation Bar
- Health Status
Displays a status such as Error or Warning when one of the following events is detected.
- The pool usage rate exceeds the threshold value
- One or more pools are blocked
- An error occurs during an operation to back up or restore a snapshot
- A SIM (a message generated when the controller of the storage system detects an error or service request) is detected
- Management Tools
Launches the following tools from VSP One Block Administrator.
- Maintenance Utility
Launches the maintenance utility (a tool for managing storage systems) and performs various tasks such as initial setup during installation.
- Command Console
Launches the command input window from VSP One Block Administrator. From the window that appears, you can run commands for Command Control Interface, which is built into the storage system (the built-in CLI).
- Maintenance Utility
- Notification History
You can check a notification history of the information sent to the window while you were logged in.
- Help
- System Information
Displays information from System Information about the storage system managed by VSP One Block Administrator.
- Help
Displays the VSP One Block Administrator Help. You can use the Help to check operation methods and other information.
- System Information

Content to be set
Use the Initial Setup Wizard to configure system information, the date and time, and network settings.
In the Firmware window, update the firmware.
In the Change Password window, change account password.
In the User Administration window, configure accounts for users who will perform operations on the storage system.
In the External Authentication window, configure authentication and permissions for the authentication server.
In the User Account Policies window, configure password policies.
In the Alert Notifications window, configure settings to notify administrators of SIMs by email, syslog messages, or SNMP traps.
In the Licenses window, manage licenses, for example, by installing program products and enabling or disabling licenses.
In the Network Settings window, configure settings such as the IP address, subnet mask, default gateway, and DNS server for the management ports for service IP, controllers 1 and 2 of the storage system.
In the Select Cipher Suite window, select the cipher suite to be used for communication between the management client and storage system.
In the Update Certificate Files window, upload to the storage system the certificate to be used to connect to the web server during SSL communication between the management client and storage system, and update those certificates.
In the Date & Time window, configure the date and time of the storage system.
In the Audit Log Settings window, configure settings to forward the audit logs of the storage system to the syslog server.
In the Setup System Information window, configure system information.
In the Edit Login Message window, edit the message that is displayed in the login window.
In the Force Release System Lock window, forcibly release a storage system from the locked state.
Manually fail over the ESM. After fail over, you must log in again to VSP One Block Administrator.
In the Download System Dump window, download a system dump.
In the Download Small System Dump window, download a small system dump.
Tip:For details on the settings to be configured, see the Help for the maintenance utility.
For details on the roles required to perform operations in the maintenance utility and other notes, see the System Administrator Guide.
When closing the maintenance utility window, make sure to log out. If you close the window without logging out, the system might remain in the locked state.

Dashboard
When you log in, the dashboard opens. In the dashboard, you can check the storage system status, check the storage system total capacity, and view the following:
- Storage System Information
Displays the storage system name, model name, and serial number, as well as the status of resources. You can click the status to view a message about the health status.
- Capacity Usage
Displays the total and used capacity of the pools of the storage system.
- Servers
Displays the number of servers that have been registered. You can perform server-related operations by clicking the relevant icons.
- Volumes
Displays the number of volumes that have been created. You can perform volume-related operations by clicking the relevant icons.
- Total Efficiency
Displays the extent to which capacity usage has been reduced through the use of functions that improve the efficiency of the storage system, namely the capacity saving feature (deduplication and compression), data backup by using snapshots, and capacity virtualization by using Dynamic Provisioning. Metadata and garbage data generated by the storage system are not included.
Note:After a volume is created from a pool and before data is written to the volume, the maximum value (99999.99) appears.
- Data Reduction
Displays the extent to which the stored data capacity has been reduced through the use of the capacity saving feature (deduplication and compression) of the storage system.
- Software Saving
Displays the extent to which the stored data capacity of volumes for which the capacity saving feature is enabled has been reduced through the use of the capacity saving feature (deduplication and compression) of the storage system.
- Storage System Performance
Displays statuses related to the IOPS, response time (time needed to respond to requests from servers), and data transfer speed. You can identify values that differ significantly from normal values at an early stage by periodically checking this information. In particular, if there is a significant increase in the response time, a problem might have occurred on the storage system.
Note:If performance information cannot be acquired from the storage system, the display of the graphs will not be continuous.
Display of notifications during operation
The following two types of information are sent as notifications to the window while you are logged in to VSP One Block Administrator:
- Notifications of operation results and other information
These are displayed as a snackbar in the upper right corner of the window.
They are displayed for only 5 seconds after notification. If you want to refer to past notifications, click to open the notification history window.
To close the notifications on the window, click the Close button on each snackbar.
- Notifications of warnings and failures
These are displayed as a banner (error banner) at the top of the window.
To close the notifications on the window, click the Close button on each error banner.
To close multiple error banners in one operation, click on the navigation bar and select Close All Error Banners.
