You can create volumes from a pool. By enabling capacity saving (deduplication and compression), you can reduce the amount of data stored, depending on the characteristics of the data.
To create a volume that shares data reduction with snapshots, capacity saving (deduplication and compression) must be enabled.
- Ensure that a pool is available.
- Obtain the following:
- Pool name
- Whether the capacity saving setting is specified
- Whether to share data reduction with snapshots
- Capacity
- Number of volumes
- Volume name
- Make sure that the user performing the procedure has been assigned the Storage Administrator (Provisioning) role.
The volume are displayed in the inventory of volumes.
