The maintenance utility allows you to configure the storage system and perform maintenance operations. You can launch the maintenance utility in several ways depending on whether your storage system has an SVP:

  • With SVP: Log in to Hitachi Device Manager - Storage Navigator, and then select the Maintenance Utility menu.
  • Without SVP: Log in to Storage Advisor Embedded, click the Settings icon (top right), and then select Maintenance Utility.
Note:
  • The maintenance utility opens on a separate browser tab.
  • The browser requirements for the management PC (see Requirements for the Management PC for embedded tools) must be satisfied. When you open the System Monitor window from Storage Advisor Embedded, the browser to be used must be supported by Storage Advisor Embedded.
  • Click in the window to see the help menu for a description of the maintenance utility.
  • The settings for enlarging and reducing the display might not be reflected in the help window, depending on the type or version of your browser.
  • If you want to use Internet Explorer for any of the following operating systems on your SVP to export performance information to a CSV file in the System Monitor window, set IE Enhanced Security Configuration to Off:
    • Windows Server 2012 (including R2) (64 bit)
    • Windows Server 2016 (Server with Desktop Experience) (64 bit)
    • Windows Server 2019 (Server with Desktop Experience) (64 bit)
  • In the System Monitor window, some of the metrics for the 25-Gbps iSCSI channel board (CHB) ports are displayed differently compared with the ports of other channel boards.
    • For IP Error Packet Count and IPv6 Error Packet Count:

The System Monitor window displays the total value of all 25-Gbps iSCSI CHB ports as the value of each port.

    • For TCP Retransmit Timer Expired Count:

The System Monitor window always displays 0 (zero) for this metric.
