Wait for the OVA deployment to complete.

  12. Power on the UCP Advisor VM.
Wait approximately 10 minutes while the UCP Advisor VM is being configured and the IP address become reachable over the network.
  13. Power off the UCP Advisor VM.
  14. (Optional) Attach the command devices to the UCP Advisor VM. See Provisioning a command device for the UCP Advisor VM before installing UCP Advisor.
Note: This is not applicable for a UCP hyperconverged (HC) system.
  15. Take a VMware snapshot of the UCP Advisor VM.
  16. Power on the UCP Advisor VM.
  17. Log on to the UCP Advisor VM as ucpadmin.
  18. Verify that the disk attribute property for the command device that you are trying to add is set to OPEN-V-CM. Enter:
    lsscsi -i

    Sample output:

    [ucpadmin@UCPAdvisorMasterHost105 ~]$ lsscsi -i
    [1:0:0:0] disk VMware Virtual disk 2.0 /dev/sda -
    [1:0:1:0] disk VMware Virtual disk 2.0 /dev/sdb -
    [1:0:2:0] disk HITACHI OPEN-V-CM 5001 /dev/sdc 360060e80282742005080274200000049
    [1:0:3:0] disk HITACHI OPEN-V-CM A301 /dev/sdd 360060e8028273e005080273e0000000a

If the disk attribute property for the command device that you are trying to add is set to OPEN-V, you cannot provision it. Re-create the command device:

    1. Remove the command device from the UCP Advisor VM and the ESXi host.
    2. Create a new command device on the storage device, and assign it to ESXi host.
    3. Add the command device as a RDM disk to the UCP Advisor VM.
    4. Verify the disk attribute property of the command device again.
  19. Navigate to the Advisor4.6\Software folder and copy the ucpadvisor-air-gapped-v4.6.0-141.tar.gz file to the /home/ucpadmin folder on the UCP Advisor VM, and then extract the installer package. Enter:
    tar -xvzf ucpadvisor-air-gapped-v4.6.0-141.tar.gz
  20. Navigate to the /installer folder, and then install UCP Advisor. Enter:
    sudo ./installer -m <UCP Advisor VM IP address> [-P|<-u <username> -p <password>] [-c <command devices list>] -s <SCP server IP address> [-lsd SDX]
    where:
    • -m: UCP AdvisorVM IP address
    • -P | <-u -p>: If you use the -u -p flags, you must enter the username and password in the command. However, if you use the -P flag, then you must enter the username and password when prompted.
    • -c: (Optional) Specify the list of command devices that must be used.
Note: This is not applicable for a UCP hyperconverged (HC) system.
    • -s: Enter a free IP address to configure the SCP server.
Note: The SCP server will be used for UCP Advisor internal operations such as switch back up and restore and switch firmware upgrade.
    • -lsd: (Optional) Specify if you want to use LVM to back up or restore the /root disk partition. Use the 200 GB Linux device to create the LVM snapshot.
    For example:
    sudo ./installer -m 192.168.10.10 -u ucpadmin -p Password -c sdc sdd -s 192.168.10.20 -lsd sdb
    Note:
    • Command devices that are already attached to the UCP Advisor VM are automatically detected during UCP Advisor installation.
    • By default the installer script installs a new instance of UCP Advisor. Any previous or existing UCP Advisor installations are removed.
    • If you want to install UCP Advisor as a root user, you must log on to the UCP Advisor VM with the root user credentials.
After UCP Advisor is successfully installed, the following message is displayed:
Congratulations, the installation is successful. The UCP Advisor console UI should be available at https://<UCP Advisor VM IP address>
In future, if user wants to add or remove command device, must do it on <UCP Advisor VM IP address>
    Note:
    • The LVM snapshot is automatically deleted after a successful UCP Advisor installation.
    • If you see socket error during UCP Advisor installation, revert the VMware snapshot, verify that the status of the vCenter resources are Normal, and then retry installing UCP Advisor.
  1. Launch UCP Advisor:
    1. Copy the UCP Advisor VM IP address displayed in the message above, and then paste it into a browser address bar.
Image displaying UCP Advisor login screen

    2. Enter the default credentials:
      • Username: ucpadmin
      • Password: overrunsurveysroutewarnssent
    3. Reset the default password.
Note: Verify that the password contains at least 8 alphanumeric characters, one uppercase letter, one lowercase letter, a number, and a special character. Do not use common words.
Note: After you install UCP Advisor, a single partner, apiadmin is created by default and ucpAdminRole privileges are granted. Using this privilege, the partner can create multiple subscribers and assign device resources to them. The UCP system devices, such as storage, Ethernet switches, and Fibre Channel switches are always assigned to a partner.

See "Multitenancy"in the Hitachi Unified Compute Platform (UCP) Advisor Administration Guide.

  2. If you configured command devices during UCP Advisor installation, verify that they are successfully added. In a web browser, enter the following URL:
    https://<UCP-Advisor-Address>:8444/services/cmd-devices

This lists all the command devices.

  3. (Optional) Provision a new command device for the UCP Advisor VM if it was not attached to the VM prior to installing UCP Advisor. See Provisioning a command device for the UCP Advisor VM after installing UCP Advisor.
Note: This is not applicable for a UCP hyperconverged (HC) system.
  4. Begin adding:
    • Users and groups: see "Managing users and groups" in the Hitachi Unified Compute Platform (UCP) Advisor Administration Guide.
