* The SI pair status must be "PSUS" during the period between when Thin Image Advanced directs storing snapshot data for a consistency group, and when the status of all pairs in the consistency group is changed to "PSUS". If the SI pair status changes to a status other than "PSUS" while Thin Image Advanced is storing snapshot data for the consistency group, consistency of the snapshot data cannot be guaranteed.

Available ShadowImage tasks

Notes:
  1. The display when the -key detail option is specified for the raidcom get snapshot command.
  2. After running the raidcom modify snapshot -snapshot_data split command for the Thin Image pair for which a consistency group is set, verify that all pairs in the Thin Image consistency group are in PSUS status, and then perform ShadowImage operations.

Otherwise, it is not guaranteed that the Thin Image snapshot data is the same as the data in the P-VOL at the time when the storage system accepted the raidcom modify snapshot -snapshot_data split command.

The following table lists the ShadowImage tasks you can perform when sharing a Thin Image Advanced P-VOL with a ShadowImage S-VOL.

Notes:
  1. The display when the -key detail option is specified for the raidcom get snapshot command.
  2. To use the SI S-VOL as the Thin Image P-VOL, you need to first create the SI pair, and then create the Thin Image pair.
  3. After running the raidcom modify snapshot -snapshot_data split command for the Thin Image pair for which a consistency group is set, verify that all pairs in the Thin Image consistency group are in PSUS status or composed of single volumes, and then perform ShadowImage operations.

Otherwise, it is not guaranteed that the Thin Image snapshot data is the same as the data in the P-VOL at the time when the storage system accepted the raidcom modify snapshot -snapshot_data split command.

  4. When a host accesses the Thin Image S-VOL, data in the Thin Image P-VOL must be used for the reply. Therefore, the operation of switching the SI P-VOL and SI S-VOL (Thin Image P-VOL), which is the Quick Restore operation of ShadowImage, cannot be performed.

Thin Image Advanced S-VOLs share the data in the P-VOL. You cannot Quick Restore in ShadowImage, which replaces the data in the ShadowImage P-VOL and S-VOL.

CAUTION:
Thin Image Advanced uses MU numbers 0 to 1,023, and they are assigned in the order of 3 to 1,023, followed by 0 to 2. ShadowImage uses MU numbers 0 to 2. Thin Image Advanced cannot use the MU numbers 0 to 2 if you want to share Thin Image Advanced volumes with ShadowImage.

To share Thin Image Advanced volumes with ShadowImage if Thin Image Advanced is using the MU numbers 0 to 2:

  1. Delete the Thin Image Advanced pair of the MU number 0 to 2.
  2. Create the ShadowImage pairs and Thin Image Advanced pairs.
