The following figures illustrate the relationship of data in Thin Image Advanced and Thin Image pairs when the pool becomes full.
- When a related copy operation fails during a Thin Image Advanced pair operation
If copying the location information (metadata) related to the current Thin Image Advanced pair operations fails due to the full pool capacity, the status of the Thin Image Advanced pairs becomes PSUE (suspended by a failure). The pair with P-VOL and S-VOL 1 in the figure corresponds to this case. Because Thin Image Advanced pairs do not share location information of data (metadata) between pairs, the status of the pairs for which pair operations are not performed does not become PSUE.
Host I/O is rejected to the pairs for which Thin Image Advanced pair operation is not performed. In this case, the status of the Thin Image Advanced pairs does not become PSUE. The pair of the P-VOL and S-VOL 2 and the pair of the P-VOL and S-VOL 3 in the figure correspond to this case.
- When a related copy operation fails during a Thin Image pair operation
If copying the location information (metadata) related to the current Thin Image Advanced pair operations fails due to the full pool capacity, the snapshot data for the pairs and all generations of snapshot data that refers to that data are lost. Therefore, all snapshot data in the tree might become PSUE (suspended by a failure).
