If a failure occurs in a Thin Image Advanced pair volume, the pair status becomes PSUE. In the PSUE status, snapshot data is lost and you cannot access it. In this case, you cannot create new Thin Image Advanced pairs. You need to delete snapshot data that is no longer necessary. You also need to delete old snapshot data when your P-VOL reaches the maximum number of snapshots and you want to store new snapshot data.
To delete snapshot data alone, run the raidcom modify
snapshot command with the -snapshot_data resync
option to resynchronize the target pair.
If you delete only snapshot data, the pair relationship between the P-VOL and
the S-VOL is maintained. The MU number assigned to the pair remains assigned and
does not change even after the snapshot data is deleted. The pair status changes
to PAIR. In addition, when snapshot data is deleted, the area allocated for the
snapshot data is released in background processing and the pool usage decreases.
This background processing is performed automatically.
You can also delete a Thin Image Advanced pair to delete snapshot data. For details, see Deleting Thin Image Advanced pairs.
