You can change S-VOLs that are assigned to snapshot data.
Note: If the amount of snapshot data in selected P-VOLs or the total number of pairs in selected snapshot groups exceeds 32,768, an error message appears when attempting to perform pair tasks.
  • You must have the Storage Administrator (Local Copy) role.
  • The Thin Image Advanced pair containing the S-VOL you want to change must be in the PAIR status, PSUS status, or PSUE status.
  • The Thin Image Advanced pair containing the volume to be assigned as the target S-VOL must be in the PSUS status.

Changing assignment of S-VOLs using CCI commands

The following is an example of changing the S-VOL for the snapshot data of MU number 4 to the S-VOL of LDEV number 20:00:

raidcom replace snapshot -ldev_id 0x2000 -mirror_id 4

The following is an example of changing the S-VOL for snapshot data by specifying the snapshot group instead of the MU number:

raidcom replace snapshot -ldev_id 0x2000 -snapshotgroup snap3

If you do not specify an MU number as in the second example, snapshot data with an MU number in the snapshot group (specified by the P-VOL corresponding to the specified S-VOL) is automatically selected. In this case, unexpected snapshot data might be assigned to the specified S-VOL. If you want to select specific snapshot data, specify the applicable MU number, not the applicable snapshot group.

Changing assignment of S-VOLs using HDvM - SN

  1. In the Explorer pane, click Storage Systems, expand the storage system tree, expand Replication, and then click Local Replication.
  2. In the Local Replication window, select a P-VOL in the TI Root Volumes tab or a snapshot group in the Snapshot Groups tab.
  3. Click Operate TI Pairs.
  4. In the TI Pairs window, click More Actions > Assign Secondary Volumes.
    Note:
    • When you assign an S-VOL, you cannot simultaneously specify both the P-VOL of a Thin Image pair and the P-VOL of a Thin Image Advanced pair. Specify the P-VOL of one pair or the other.
    • You cannot operate on both a Thin Image pair and a Thin Image Advanced pair by simultaneously specifying both the snapshot group containing the Thin Image pair and the snapshot group containing the Thin Image Advanced pair. Specify a snapshot group containing one pair or the other.
    • You cannot simultaneously specify and operate on both a Thin Image pair and a Thin Image Advanced pair. Specify one pair or the other.
You can specify P-VOLs in Device Manager - Storage Navigator until the total number of snapshots reaches 32,768. In addition, you can specify snapshot groups until the total number of pairs reaches 32,768.
  5. From the Available LDEVs table, select the LDEV you want to assign as the S-VOL, and then click Set.
The selected LDEV is displayed in the Secondary Volumes column of the Selected Pairs table.
    Note:
    • The nondisruptive migration volumes do not appear in the Available LDEVs table.
    • If you select a capacity in Capacity, the Available LDEVs and Selected Pairs tables display the LDEVs that match the selected capacity.
    • If you select a row in the Available LDEVs table and a row in the Selected Pairs table and then click Set, you can configure a pair.
    • If you select LDEVs that were assigned to an S-VOL with the Exclude Assigned Volumes check box unchecked, the S-VOL to which snapshot data is assigned can be changed.
  6. Click Finish, and then confirm the settings.
  7. Accept the default task name or enter a unique name.
You can enter up to 32 letters, numbers, and symbols, except the following:

    \ / : , ; * ? " < > |

  8. If you want to monitor the task after submitting it, select Go to tasks window for status.
