You can configure the storage systems for TrueCopy by adding a remote connection from the primary to the secondary system.

Adding the connection and setting up remote paths prepares the systems for TC commands and operations.

Depending on the system configuration, remote connection from the secondary storage system to the primary storage system is also added. VSP One Block, performs this procedure in the primary storage system.

CAUTION:

Do not add or delete a remote connection or add a remote path at the same time that the SCSI path definition function is in use.

  • The local and remote systems must be ready for TC operations. See Storage system preparation.
  • The data path must be set up. See Data path requirements and configurations.
  • The remote system serial number, LDKC, controller ID, path group ID, and port numbers are required.
  • When using virtual storage machine volumes, make sure to specify the physical serial number of the storage system, not the serial number of the virtual storage machine.
  1. Use the CCI raidcom add rcu command with -rcu serial# mcu# rcu# id to add a remote storage system.
  2. Use the CCI raidcom add rcu command with -cu_free serial# id pid to specify the path group ID.
  3. Use the CCI raidcom modify rcu command with -rcu_option mpth rto rtt [fzd|fze] to add a RIO timeout value, round trip time value, and freeze option.
The range is 10-100 seconds. RIO timeout is the waiting time from when copy starts until when it ends. This value applies to the slots which received the request of copying data between storage systems.
Round trip time is a time limit for data copy from P-VOL to S-VOL in ms. The range is 1-500 ms.
