When connecting VSP One B20 storage systems to the VSP 5000 series, there are the following restrictions on LU numbers and namespace IDs when creating pairs.
A pair can be assigned LU numbers from 0 to 4095 if you connect VSP 5000 series, whose DKCMAIN program version is 90-02-0x-xx/xx or later. However, do not create a pair between LUs 2048 to 4095 and LUs on this storage system because failures, such as pair suspension, might occur on the VSP One B20. Therefore, you are limited to assigning 2048 LU numbers (0 to 2047) because of this restriction.
When you configure a host group for Fibre Channel ports, you can configure up to 2048 LU paths in a single host group . You can also configure up to 2048 LU paths on a single port through a host group.
If you configure iSCSI targets on iSCSI ports, with up to 2048 LUs on a single iSCSI target. You can set the LU path up to 2048 on a single iSCSI target. You can also configure up to 2048 LU paths on a single port through iSCSI targets
The following table lists LU numbers that can be used when the source storage system is VSP One B20 and the target storage system is VSP G130, G/F350, G/F370, G/F700, G/F900, VSP E590, VSP E790, VSP E990, VSP E1090, VSP 5000 series, or VSP One B20.
| Source storage system | Target storage system | Restrictions | ||
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Model | Firmware version | LU number that allows pair creation | Number of LU paths that can be configured on one port | |
| VSP One B20 (all versions) | VSP G130, G/F350, G/F370, G/F700, G/F900 | 88-08-12-xx/xx or later | 0 to 2047 | 0 to 2048 |
| VSP E590, VSP E790, VSP E990, VSP E1090 | 93-07-22-xx/xx or later | 0 to 2047 | 0 to 2048 | |
| VSP 5100, VSP 5200, VSP 5500, VSP 5600 | 90-09-23-xx/xx or later | 0 to 2047 | 0 to 2048 | |
| VSP One B20 | All versions | 0 to 2047 | 0 to 2048 | |
| VSP One SDS Block | V1.16 | 0 to 2047 | 0 to 2048 | |
Namespace ID restrictions when creating pairs are similar to the restrictions on LU numbers. VSP 5000 series can assign namespace IDs from 1 to 4096. However, when connecting a VSP One B20 to a VSP 5000 series, do not create pairs using namespace with a namespace ID of between 2049 to 4096. As mentioned before, the storage system might experience failures such as pair suspension.
The following table lists namespace ID numbers that can be used when the source storage system is VSP One B20 and the target storage system is VSP E1090, VSP 5000 series, or VSP One B20.
| Source storage system | Target storage system | Restrictions | ||
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Model | Firmware version | Namespace ID that allows pair creation | Number of namespaces that can be created in the NVM subsystem | |
| VSP One B20 (all versions) | VSP E1090 | 93-07-22-xx/xx or later | 1 to 2048 | 2048 |
| VSP 5000 series | 90-09-23-xx/xx or later | 1 to 2048 | 2048 | |
| VSP One B20 | All versions | 1 to 2048 | 2048 | |
