The first table gives the general methods of verifying an error occurrence. The subsequent two tables give more specific information, depending on whether or not the DP-VOL identified by the SSB error code is a deduplication system data volume.
General verification methods
How to verify an error occurrence | Advantage | Disadvantage | Solutions |
---|---|---|---|
Reading DP-VOL data from the host (Read the entire volumes specified in the following table from the host.) |
The verification takes the shortest time to complete compared to other methods. | To perform the verification while continuing your operations, you must control the number of volumes to be read at one time and the read performances in order to reduce the processor utilization rate. |
|
Creating an SI pair (Create an SI pair that uses a volume specified in the following table as the DP-VOL.) |
The host operation is not required. |
|
|
Health check feature* (On the volumes automatically identified as specified in the following table, whether an error occurs is verified.) |
|
The health check feature takes the longest time to complete compared to other read methods. |
|
Verification target volumes (if a DP-VOL identified by the SSB error code is a deduplication system data volume (data store))
How to verify an error occurrence | When to verify an error occurrence | |
---|---|---|
Before duplicated data initialization | After duplicated data initialization | |
Reading the data on DP-VOLs from the host | All DP-VOLs with capacity saving enabled | DP-VOLs with capacity saving of Compression that belong to the pool, and DP-VOLs with capacity saving enabled that do not belong to the pool |
Creating an SI pair | All DP-VOLs with capacity saving enabled | DP-VOLs with capacity saving of Compression that belong to the pool, and DP-VOLs with capacity saving enabled that do not belong to the pool |
Health check feature | All DP-VOLs with capacity saving enabled | All DP-VOLs with capacity saving enabled |
Verification target volumes (if a DP-VOL identified by the SSB error code is NOT a deduplication system data volume (data store))
