An MP failure, a controller failure, or a FAN failure occurs. Otherwise, maintenance that requires MP blockade is being performed. | When an MP failure, a controller failure, or a FAN failure occurs, the status of CPU power saving does not change to POWER_SAVING and power consumption is not reduced. Also, while maintenance that requires MP blockade (such as, firmware replacement, controller maintenance, or planned stoppage or startup) is being performed, the status of CPU power saving does not change to POWER_SAVING. If a failure occurs, after the storage system is recovered to the normal state, check the status of CPU power saving. If maintenance is being performed, finish the maintenance, and then check the status of CPU power saving. |
The load exceeds the threshold values on the storage. | The load might have exceeded the threshold values, so power consumption has not been reduced. Use System Monitor of VSP One Block Administrator or Export Tool 2 to check whether IOPS is always lower than the threshold value during the monitoring period. Also, check whether the MPU operating rate for each controller is always lower than the threshold value during the monitoring period. The following shows individual threshold values for CPU power saving:
Note: When CPU power saving is in NON_POWER_SAVING status, the lower value is set for the MPU operating rate, compared to when CPU power saving is in POWER_SAVING status. This is because increase of the MPU operating rate when the status of CPU power saving is switched from NON_POWER_SAVING to POWER_SAVING is considered. |
The monitoring period has not passed. | The monitoring period might not have passed, so power consumption has not been reduced. Check the performance value as in the second row of this table. If you change the CPU power saving setting, information about the CPU load is reset. Check whether the time longer than the monitoring period has passed since you changed the CPU power saving setting. |
