The capacity saving status of a DP-VOL indicates the processing progress of the capacity saving function and the availability of the host I/O operations.

The compression accelerator module is installed on VSP One B26 and VSP One B28.

This table describes the capacity saving statuses for VSP One B26 and VSP One B28.

Deleting Volume

This status is not available for DRS-VOLs because the synchronous LDEV deletion cannot be performed.

The capacity saving-enabled DRD-VOL with LDEV formatting complete is being deleted. From a few seconds to a few minutes.

(The LDEV formatting operation can take several minutes through several hours. While the LDEV formatting operation is in progress, the capacity saving status is shown as Enabled.)

If I/Os are issued to a capacity saving-enabled DRD-VOL with LDEV formatting complete while the DRD-VOL is being deleted, the delete operation fails. If this occurs, first format the LDEV, and then delete the DRD-VOL.

Because the integrity of the metadata cannot be guaranteed, SIM code 680001 might be output depending on the reading position. If it is output, take corrective action according to the appropriate SIM code. See SIMs for Dynamic Provisioning.

Notes:
  1. The capacity saving processing consists of two phases. The status displayed might depend on the operations in each phase.
  2. If the capacity saving setting is enabled on the storage system with the compression accelerator installed, compression accelerator is automatically enabled.

    To disable compression accelerator, use CCI, because a DRD-VOL is migrated from the storage system with compression accelerator installed to the storage system without compression accelerator installed.
