Specifying virtual IDs in CCI pair operations and displaying pair information
You can perform GAD pair operations by specifying both of these numbers in the HORCM_LDEV parameters of the CCI configuration definition file:
- Serial number of the virtual storage machine in the Serial# parameter
- Virtual LDEV number in the CU:LDEV(LDEV#) parameter
In this case, the serial number of the virtual storage machine and the virtual LDEV number are displayed in Seq# and LDEV# in the output results of the pairdisplay command.
You can perform CCI pair operations that do not involve virtual storage machines by specifying both of these numbers in the HORCM_LDEV parameters of the CCI configuration definition file:
- Serial number of the physical storage system in the Serial# parameter
- Physical LDEV number in the CU:LDEV(LDEV#) parameter
In this case, the actual serial number and the LDEV number are displayed in Seq# and LDEV# in the output results of the pairdisplay command.
Notes
If the following condition exists, local copy pair operations cannot be performed by specifying virtual IDs: The primary volume and secondary volume are defined differently for the virtual storage machine.
If the following condition exists, remote copy pair operations cannot be performed by specifying virtual IDs: The primary volume is an LDEV in a VSP, HUS VM, or USP V/VM storage system
Global-active device pair operations that specify the virtual ID cannot be performed.
If a pair is created while specifying both the actual serial number and the LDEV number in each Serial# and CU:LDEV(LDEV#) in the HORCM_LDEV parameters of the configuration definition file, the device information recognized by the server differs from the device information displayed in the output results of the pairdisplay command.
