Supported functions:
- Using a V-VOL as a TrueCopy primary volume (P-VOL) or secondary volume (S-VOL).
For disaster recovery (DR) operations, apply the same capacity saving setting to the P-VOL and S-VOL of the pair by assuming failover.
- Expanding the capacity of a V-VOL used in TrueCopy.
- Using a deduplication system data volume as a TrueCopy P-VOL or S-VOL.
Not supported functions:
- Using a pool-VOL as a TrueCopy P-VOL or S-VOL.
- Using a deduplication system data volume as a TrueCopy P-VOL or S-VOL.
In addition, you can use Dynamic Provisioning in combination with TrueCopy to replicate V-VOLs. You cannot specify a Dynamic Provisioning pool-VOL as a primary volume or secondary volume.
This figure shows the interaction when the TrueCopy primary volume and secondary volume are also DRD-VOLs.
TrueCopy P-VOL | TrueCopy S-VOL | Explanation |
---|---|---|
DRD-VOLs | DRD-VOLs | Supported |
DRD-VOLs | External volumes* | Supported |
External volumes* | DRD-VOLs | Supported. Note that this combination consumes the same amount of pool capacity as the external volume (primary volume). |
* For details about the external volume, see the VSP One Block Universal Volume Manager User Guide. |
