A host bus adapter (HBA) is identified by its WWN or nickname. World Wide Name (WWN) is a unique identifier (16 hexadecimal digits) for an HBA in an open systems host. When registering a host in a host group, make sure to specify the WWN of the host bus adapter.

For iSCSI, an HBA is identified by its HBA iSCSI name or nickname.

You can assign a nickname to the HBA based on the host location or owner. Assigning a nickname makes it easier to identify the HBA by using the CCI command. Although the WWN is also used to identify each HBA by using the CCI command, the nickname that you assign based on the host owner and so on is more helpful than WWN (16 hexadecimal digits).
