Storage area network configurations and settings
An IP-SAN needs to be configured. The environmental setup, such as connection of the Ethernet switch cables, is the same as 25-Gbps Ethernet channel boards.
Host server configurations and settings
- The host that connects to the target storage system must be configured with an OS and a host bus adapter (HBA) that support NVMe-oF communication protocol.
- For the combinations of OSes and NICs that support the connection of storage systems, contact customer support
- The software required to use NVMe/TCP might need to be installed on the host, or firmware or a driver for an NIC might need to be installed. After installing the software, firmware, or driver, its settings might need to be changed. Follow the instructions provided by each OS and NIC vendor.
- For details about how to verify the device recognition on the host, follow the guidelines for the platforms that support connections to the storage system.
- The following host OSes can be connected to 100-Gbps Ethernet channel boards:
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 or later
- SUSE Linux 15 SP2 or later
- Oracle Enterprise Linux 7.9 UEK6 or later
- Oracle Enterprise Linux 8.2 UEK6 or later
- A host NQN containing a character that does not meet the requirements for using the 100-Gbps Ethernet channel board cannot be registered on the NVM subsystem. When the host NQN is defined on the host side, make sure to meet the requirements for the host NQN that can be registered on the NVM subsystem by referring to 100-Gbps Ethernet channel board requirements.
