Prerequisites
Make sure that the following conditions are met before provisioning for asynchronous remote clone:
- Ops Center Protector v7.6.0 or later is registered in Ops Center Administrator.
- Both primary and secondary storage systems are onboarded in the Protector Master. Note: If the two sites are far apart, you can place the Protector Master at one site and the Protector Client at the other site to control the storage system at the respective sites. Ensure that the Protector Master is registered in Administrator. Administrator and the Protector Master can be placed at different sites based on your environment requirements.
- Universal Replicator, TrueCopy, and Dynamic Provisioning licenses for both primary and secondary storage systems are installed in the data protection software.
- At least one Fibre Channel server is registered.
- The primary and secondary storage systems must have the following configurations:
- Remote paths are configured bidirectionally.
- There are a sufficient number of undefined volumes and undefined host groups in the secondary storage system meta_resource group.
- The primary storage system is onboarded in Administrator. Note: To manage the secondary storage system, we recommend that you place another Ops Center Administrator at the same site as the secondary storage system or use other tools such as Storage Navigator, which runs on the secondary storage system SVP. We do not recommend that you onboard storage systems in Administrator across sites because UDP is used for unencrypted communication from the CCI (included in the Administrator) to the storage system (SVP or GUM).
- Both primary and secondary storage systems have at least one Fibre port.
- Both primary and secondary storage systems have Universal Replicator, TrueCopy, and Dynamic Provisioning licenses.
- There is sufficient space to create volumes, journal volumes, and remote pairs including CTG.
- For VSP G/F350, G/F370, G/F700, G/F900 storage systems, the firmware version is 88-04-0x-xx or later.
- There is a DP or DT pool with enough capacity.
System Configuration
The software supports multiple types of system configuration for asynchronous remote clone. You can choose the most suitable system configuration considering the distance and communication performance between the two sites, as well as the effort required for disaster recovery.
