You can access the External Volumes window to add, migrate, or delete external volumes.

  1. Navigate to the detail window for a storage system, then click External Volumes. The External Volumes window shows external volumes and thin/tiered volumes with data direct mapping enabled. The external volumes are volumes on other storage systems mapped to the storage system. The thin/tiered volumes are DP-VOLs created from Dynamic Provisioning pools or Dynamic Tiering pools.
Note: The following external volumes and thin/tiered volumes with data direct mapping enabled are not displayed:
    • The emulation type is not OPEN_V
    • Remote command devices
    • Volumes using Cache Residency Manager cache
    • Pool volumes
    • NAS boot volumes
    • Quorum disks
    • Volumes related to the Namespace for FC-NVMe

  2. On the External Volumes window, the following actions are available:
    • Click Open the Logical Devices window in Hitachi Storage Navigator to perform advanced migration functions in Storage Navigator.
    • To create external volumes, click the plus sign (+) to open the Create External Volumes window.
    • To discover external storage, click Actions > Discover External Storage.
    • To migrate external volumes, select attached volumes, then click Actions > Migrate Volumes.

You can watch a video to see how volume migration is done. The interface may be slightly different, but the steps are the same.

Note: The Assigned to Migration filter can display which volumes are already part of a migration plan. If a volume status is Yes (Unmanaged) the volume is assigned for migration in other storage management tools.
