Configure a storage system to manage storage using Ops Center Administrator.
Note: Ops Center Administrator retrieves and displays any resources that already exist in the storage system.
Complete the following to configure a storage system:
- Set port security: Port security must be enabled for a host storage domain (HSD) to be created on the port. If port security is disabled, Ops Center Administrator does not select the port for HSD creation. If the user manually selects the port with security disabled, the host group is created.
- For Fibre/Fibre with SCSI mode ports or iSCSI ports, enable port security to use the provisioning functions of Ops Center Administrator.
- For Fibre with NVMe mode ports, disable port security to use the provisioning functions of Ops Center Administrator.
- Create parity groups so you can create pools. Note: You cannot create or modify parity groups for VSP One Block using Ops Center Administrator, but you can view them.
To create or modify parity groups for configuring a pool, you must use VSP One Block Administrator. The pool configuration workflow in VSP One Block Administrator automatically handles the parity groups setup. For a detailed procedure, see Creating a pool.
- Create pools so you can create volumes.
The following workflow shows what you need to do before using the provisioning functions with a Fibre port in Ops Center Administrator.
