Access volume details in one of these ways:

  • On the dashboard, click the Storage Systems (Storage systems) icon, then click a storage system tile. Click Volumes to open the Volumes window then click a volume.
  • On the detail window for a pool, click a volume.

Volume details

The volume details window exposes pool details including Pool ID, type, and tier of the pool. The volumes attached to servers are listed under Attached Servers.

The Provisioning Status can be any of the following:

  • Attached: The volume is attached to a server.
  • Unattached: The volume is not attached to a server.
  • Unmanaged: The volume has only a LUN path associated or is assigned to a namespace. For example, a volume might be attached to a server that is not known to Ops Center Administrator.
If the volume is a command device, then command device attributes (command device security, user authentication and device group setting) are shown.
Note: These three attributes are shown only if the command devices belongs to a storage system with an SVP.

On a volume detail window, you can do the following:

  • Attach the volume to a server by clicking Attach Volumes.
  • Edit the volume configuration by clicking Update Volumes to open the Update Volumes window.

When you click Submit, a notification appears stating that job has started to expand the volume.

  • For a tiered volume, click Update Tiering Policy to access the Update Tiering Policy window.
  • Delete the volume.
  • Protect the volume by clicking Protect Volumes to open the Protect Volumes window.
    Note:
    • Command devices cannot be protected. Do not perform this action for command devices.
    • Do not specify a DRS-VOL and a non-DRS-VOL at the same time when creating a snapshot.
    • Ops Center Administrator cannot create a DRS-VOL for a secondary volume with high availability. If you want to create it, use another management tool.
    • Ops Center Administrator can protect volumes with high availability or asynchronous remote clone in an existing replication group with following conditions:
      • P-VOL STATUS and S-VOL STATUS of all paired volumes in the replication group is PAIR.
      • Status of the corresponding replication in Ops Center Protector is OK.
  • Unprotect a volume by clicking Unprotect Volumes.
Note: Ops Center Administrator can unprotect volumes with high availability or asynchronous remote clone in the replication group with following conditions:
    • P-VOL STATUS and S-VOL STATUS of all paired volumes in the replication group is PAIR.
    • Status of the corresponding replication in Ops Center Protector is OK.
  • Click Migrate Volumes to access the Migrate Volumes window.
Note: Command devices cannot be migrated. Do not perform this action for command devices.
  • Click Attach Like Volumes to create, attach, and protect volumes with local replication, High Availability, or Asynchronous Remote Clone.
Note: When creating an asynchronous remote clone replication group, any new journals created will be deleted when the replication group is deleted. Use other management tools to check the journal status after the operation and delete any unnecessary journals.
  • View list of volume pairs where the volume is either a P-VOL or an S-VOL in the Related Volume Pairs table.
Note: Ops Center Administrator does not display the following volume pairs:
    • Snapshots without an assigned S-VOL
    • Clones created with Storage Navigator.
  • Click a Replication Group in the Related Volume Pairs table to open the Replication Group detail window for the volume pair.
  • Click an S-Vol ID in the Related Volume Pairs table to open the detail window for the secondary volume.
