You can create pools with external volume groups for VSP One Block.

Note: Data direct mapping (DDM) pool can only be created by using a pool with an external parity group for VSP One Block.
  • Create and configure external volume groups on the storage system.
  • License requirements for Thin Pool: Dynamic Provisioning.
  1. On the Ops Center Administrator dashboard, click Storage Systems to see the inventory of registered storage systems.
  2. Click a storage system to create a pool for it.
  3. Click Pools.
  4. Click Actions > Create storage pool with external volume capacity to open the Create Pool window.

  5. Enter a Pool Name.
    Pool names can contain alphanumeric characters, hyphens, and underscores only. Initial hyphens are not allowed.
  6. Select Yes under ENABLE DDM? to use the pool for migrating volumes greater than 4 TiB.
  7. Select one or more external volume groups for use when creating the pool. You can scroll through the external volume groups or use the search and filter functions.
    Ops Center Administrator shows the total size of the pool using the selected external volume groups.
  8. Set the Utilization Thresholds or use the default threshold settings. The thresholds specify the Warning and Critical thresholds for Capacity Monitoring.
  9. Click Submit.
    A job is started to allocate the storage capacity and create the pool.
  • Click Jobs to verify the status of the pool-creation job.
  • Create volumes.
