Adding software-defined storage systems

You can onboard a software-defined storage (SDS) system to launch VSP One SDS Block Administrator and show the capacity information.

  • Verify that the VSP One SDS Block storage system that you are onboarding has a storage user account with all the necessary roles of security, storage, monitor, service, and resource. You must also verify the storage username and password.
  • Verify the representative IP address of the storage cluster.
  1. On the dashboard, click the Storage Systems (Storage systems) icon.
  2. Click the plus sign (+) to add a storage system.
  3. In the Onboard Storage System window, enter values for the following parameters:
    IP Address:
    Enter the representative IP address of the storage cluster.
    User name and password:
    Log in as a user who has all the necessary roles of security, storage, monitor, service, and resource.
  4. Click Submit.

The Jobs window is updated with a job called Create Storage System.

Wait a while for the management software to add the storage system. Refresh the Jobs window to verify that the storage system is onboarded.

The dashboard shows that the number of storage systems is incremented by one. Additionally, when you click the Storage Systems (Storage systems) icon, you can see the newly added storage system in the storage system inventory window.
