Storage Navigator is the element manager for a supported storage system block module. It is a factory-installed application running on the SVP, which is directly connected to the storage system. You can access Storage Navigator from the storage system detail window for advanced configuration options while performing management functions such as remote replication, volume migration, and resource group management with Ops Center Administrator. You can access Storage Navigator for the following storage systems:
  • VSP 5000 series
  • VSP E series
  • VSP G200, F/G400, F/G600. F/G800
  • VSP G130, G/F350, G/F370, G/F700, G/F900

When you launch Storage Navigator, the name of the user who onboarded the storage system shows in the Storage Navigator UI by default. However, you can also modify the Ops Center Administrator settings so that the name of the logged-in user is shown instead. For detailed information, see Enabling the Storage Navigator Launch Settings option.

Note: If the name contains a character that cannot be used in Storage Navigator, it is replaced with an asterisk (*).

Storage systems with an SVP must be managed using Storage Navigator. Storage systems without an SVP must be managed with Storage Advisor Embedded.

Note: If you use Storage Navigator to manage resource groups, ensure that the user who adds storage systems in Ops Center Administrator has access to all custom resource groups and meta-resource groups.

Use the Storage Navigator online help for information on completing advanced storage configuration tasks.

To use Storage Navigator running on HARMAN AIR, ensure that Storage Device Launcher is installed on your client machine. For information on how to install Storage Device Launcher, see the SVOS Administration documentation for your storage system.

Prerequisites

To launch Storage Navigator from Ops Center Administrator, you must complete the following tasks:

  • Register a firewall exception. Verify the port to use, which is described in "Ports requirements" in the Hitachi Ops Center Administrator Getting Started Guide.
  • If the host name is used for the certificate, resolve the name of the Ops Center Administrator server from the storage system (SVP).
  • For VSP 5000 series, register the Ops Center Administrator server certificate in the storage system.
