The advanced option enables users to configure parity groups that are not based on the provided best practices.

You can fully configure the RAID layout of the parity group by selecting the specific disks and hot spares to assign for parity group creation.

Note: You cannot use Ops Center Administrator to create parity groups on the following storage systems.
  • VSP 5000 series
  • VSP G1x00, F1500
These parity groups must be created outside of Ops Center Administrator by an authorized service representative.
  1. On the dashboard, click Storage Systems, then click a storage system ID link.
  2. Click Parity Groups to open the Parity Groups window, then click the plus sign (+) to open the Create Parity Groups window.
  3. Click Advanced.

    Create Parity Groups - Advanced

  4. Select a RAID Type and a RAID Layout.
    RAID Type RAID Layout
    RAID5 3D+1P, 4D+1P, 6D+1P, 7D+1P
    RAID6 6D+2P, 12D+2P, 14D+2P

    Prerequisites for enabling encryption:
    • Storage system must have an Encryption Disk Board.
    • Encryption License Key must be installed.
    • Key Management Server must be configured on the SVP.
Note: You cannot disable Encryption in Ops Center Administrator.
  6. Choose available disks. Select enough disks to match the RAID Layout.
Note: FMD HDE drives with encryption disabled can be added to parity groups but the capacity cannot be used in pools.
  7. Click Submit.
A job is started to create the parity group for the storage system.
  • Verify the status of the job by clicking Jobs.
Note: Parity group creation might take time.
  • Create a pool.
