Virtual SMU (vSMU) Installation
Follow the installation instructions in VMware vSphere ESXi– Installing and configuring a virtual SMU or Hyper-V – Installing and configuring a virtual SMU to install a new Virtual SMU using CentOS Stream 8 on VMware or Hyper-V.
Restore the SMU configuration from the latest backup of the Physical SMU
- Open a browser to the vSMU
- Navigate to Home > SMU Administration > SMU Backup and Restore
- In the Manually Saved SMU Backup section, click <Browse> and browse to the location where the Physical SMU backup file was saved.
- Click <restore>; the restore process will begin.Note: The smu-restore process can take 45 minutes to 2 hours. Do not interrupt the process.
- Once the SMU has rebooted, the logon ID displayed should be that of the old SMU, and all settings and configurations are as they were on the Physical SMU.
Perform a sanity check on the new vSMU
- Open a browser to the vSMU.
- Navigate to Home.
- Check in the Upper Left Corner that the Cluster shows a Green Dot.
- Click the About button in the upper right.
The version should be the latest GA release of the SMU software.
- Click <back>.
- Navigate to Home > SMU Administration > SMU Network Configuration.
- eth0 should show the original customer IP address.
- The Host Name should show the original SMU name.
- The Domain should match the customer's Domain.
- Navigate to Home > Server Settings > Cluster Configuration.
- The Cluster Health should be Robust.
- The Node Health should be Green for each Node.
- The Cluster Quorum IP Address should be the vSMU.
- The Cluster Quorum Status should be Configured.
