Prior to downloading and deploying HCI, you must first create the necessary VMs across all of the nodes on your system. It is required that you use VMware for your virtual environment.

Ensure that these values are closely followed and the VMs have been configured correctly prior to the deployment of HCI.

Minimum recommended specifications for each VM

  • vCPU: 12 vCPUs
  • RAM: 32 GB
  • Hard Disk: 650 GB
  • Network Adapters: Dual, separate networks, consisting of both a dedicated frontend and backend.
  • CD/DVD drive: Assigned on the jump node. This refers to the node with the lowest IP on the cluster.
Important: To change your assigned jump node after the deployment and installation of HCI has begun, contact your Hitachi Vantara representative for assistance.
  • VM firmware: BIOS and EFI firmware are both supported.
Note: When choosing EFI, it is recommended that Secure Boot be disabled.
