Analyzer detail view provides a set of default reports on the resource tree nodes. These reports help you to manage resources in your environment (storage systems, switches, hosts, and hypervisors). However, you might need to add your own reports in the following scenarios:
  • To suit your infrastructure requirements: Analyzer detail view provides you the flexibility to create your own reports so that you can choose metrics that best suit your infrastructure.
  • To monitor metrics for which default reports are not available: While every probe collects a set of metrics, some metrics are optionally collected using certain collection methods. Default reports are not provided for these metrics, but you can add the reports for these metrics.

For example, the Total Response Time metric of RAID Port resource is collected by Hitachi Enterprise Storage probe (when the RAID Agent storage system instance is added using the SVP method). You can add a report for this metric using this procedure.

Refer to Hitachi Analyzer Detail View Metrics Reference Guide for data collection methods.

  1. You can add a new report in two ways:
    • In the resource tree, right-click the node in which you want to add a report, and then click Add Report.

For example, click on Hitachi > VSP G/VSP F/VSP E > Storage-system-instance-node > Ports node and then click Add Report.

    • In the Reports dock, click + Report.

For example, click on Hitachi > VSP G/VSP F/VSP E > Storage-system-instance-node > Ports node and then in the Reports Dock, click + Report.

    The Add Report window opens.
  2. In the Report Name field, type the report name.
  3. Click Add Metrics.
The window displays a list of related resources and metrics.
For example, select the Ports resource from the Resource(s) list and then select the Total Response Time metric from the Select metric(s) list.
Note: You can add a maximum of 15 metrics (total in left and right axis).
  4. Click Add, and then click Save.
The report is added in the reports pane for the selected node in the resource tree and Reports dock.
