The Advanced Activity Monitor (AAM) monitors the Analyzer probe server and the Analyzer detail view server and alerts you by email when the servers require attention. These alerts also include instructions on how to the use the HDEBUG shell to address the problem.

The following table describes the events for which AAM alerts are sent.

Application status monitoring
  • Data downloading and raw data processing have stopped.
  • Configuration and performance data import has stopped.
  • The alert notification and internal threads for real time and report cleaning have stopped.
  • The license has expired.

  • Collection of configuration or performance data is delayed.
  • Data or probe log uploader threads are not responding.
  • The archive data cleaning thread is not responding.
  • The license has expired.
System status monitoring
  • Disk, memory, or CPU usage is high.
  • A file system is read-only.
  • An excessive number of files are open.
  • Threads have stopped.

About the HDEBUG shell

The HDEBUG shell helps you to troubleshoot problems that occur for Analyzer detail view, like problems for adding or using certain probes.

Alerts sent by AAM include instructions on using the HDEBUG shell to issue commands to address the issue described in the alert. For example:

Critical - Syslogd process is not running

The alert includes instructions on how to log in to the affected server, start the HDEBUG shell, and enter the necessary commands.
