You can define custom thresholds for Analyzer detail view dashboard resource indicators from the Manage menu. The thresholds that you set in this window appear in the Indicator Thresholds menu of the Add Indicator window.

Dynamic thresholds

Dynamic thresholds are supported for certain devices. You can add the threshold on the storage port throughput based on the speed of the switch port that the storage port is connected to. Analyzer detail view currently supports the dynamic thresholds for the following probes, resource types, and metrics.

Probe Resource type Metric
Hitachi Enterprise Storage RAID Port Transfer Rate
EMC VMAX VMAX Port MBps Ops
  1. In the application bar, click the Manage menu.
  2. In the Administration section, click the Manage Thresholds link.
    The Manage Thresholds window opens.
  3. In the Manage Thresholds window, supply the following information:
    • Select Probe Select the probe from the list.
    • Select Resource Type Select the resource from the list.
    • Select Metric Select the metrics for the selected probe and resource type.
    • Add Indicator Thresholds Click Add Thresholds and type the label for the threshold, and then set the warning and critical thresholds as follows:
      1. Type the threshold name and set the threshold value.
      2. Configure Advanced options to set threshold direction (Forward or Reverse):
        • For Forward Threshold, the critical threshold should be greater than warning threshold. In this case, the threshold is violated when the metric value exceeds the defined threshold. By default, the threshold direction is Forward.
        • For Reverse Threshold, the warning threshold should be greater than critical threshold. In this case, the threshold is violated when the metric value is less than the defined threshold. Reverse direction thresholds are useful when evaluating metrics like Read Hit for VMAX Volume or Cache Usage. If the Read Hit rate falls below the threshold, the cache is underutilized and performance suffers.
For devices that support dynamic thresholds, the following additional options are displayed:
    • Specify Dynamic Threshold Value Select to specify a dynamic threshold value.
    • Select Resource Path Select the appropriate switch port path.
    • Select Attribute Select the attribute and provide the Warning and Critical threshold values (percentage).
  4. Click Save.
