ShadowImage copy group

When you right click a copy group ID in the copy group dashboard of the Dashboard tab and then select Resync from the copy group action menu, a dialog box appears for you to enter YKRESYNC command options (the dialog box differs depending on the copy type). When you click the OK button, YKRESYNC is executed on the copy group that was right clicked. Examples of dialog boxes and the items displayed are shown below.

Item

Description

Pair state goto

Specify the final copy pair status after the copy pair operation terminates normally. If you specify a status other than N/A, the copy group will be monitored until all the copy pairs in the copy group change to this status or until one of the copy pairs changes to abnormal status.

Pair selection

Specify SELECT parameter of YKRESYNC command i.e. how to select a copy pair to be manipulated.

  • ALL: Selects all copy pairs as targets.

  • COND: Selects target copy pairs based on the volume status of the copy pair.

Overwrite online target volume

When the S-VOL is online, determine whether to create a copy pair.

  • NO: Do not resynchronize the copy pair if the S-VOL is online.

  • YES: Resynchronize the copy pair even if the S-VOL is online.

Copy direction

Specify the copy direction.

  • As-Is: Performs a differential copy from the P-VOL to the S-VOL.

  • FORWARD: Copies the contents of the Primary site to the Secondary site.

  • REVERSE: Copies the contents of the Secondary site to the Primary site.

Volunit

Specify whether to perform copy group operation by volume (the VOLUNIT parameter value of the YKRESYNC command).

  • NO: Performs operations on a group basis if this is supported by the environment.

  • YES: Performs operations on a volume basis, even for an environment that supports operations on a group basis during specification. If you want to specify this parameter after an ATTIME suspend, cancel the ATTIME suspend time before specifying this parameter. (To cancel the ATTIME suspend time, select ATTIME CANCEL for the Suspend option in the suspend option dialog box, and then click OK.)

Copy pace

Specify the copy pace when creating a copy pair.

  • (Copy group definition value): Applies the InitPace attribute value of the copy group definition file.

  • SLOW: Slows the speed of the copy operation so that the effect of the copy operation on the I/O performance of the host is minimal.

  • NORMAL: The speed of the copy operation improves. However, update I/O load on P-VOL is high, and this might affect the I/O performance of the host.

  • FAST: Specifying FAST speeds up the copy operation so that it is faster than NORMAL. However, specifying FAST adversely affects the I/O performance of the host. As this might adversely affect business operations, we recommend that you specify FAST when no business operations are being performed.

Copy mode

Specify the option for the copy mode.

  • QUICK: Changes to DUPLEX status quickly.

  • NORMAL: Changes to DUPLEX status after the copy finishes.

TrueCopy copy group

Item

Description

Pair state goto

Specify the final copy pair status after the copy pair operation terminates normally. The copy group will be monitored until all the copy pairs in the copy group change to this status or until one of the copy pairs changes to abnormal status.

  • NO: Do not resynchronize the copy pair if the S-VOL is online.

  • YES: Resynchronize the copy pair even if the S-VOL is online.

Copy direction

Specify the copy direction.

  • As-Is: Performs a differential copy of the suspended copy pair without changing the current copy direction.

  • NORMAL: The speed of the copy operation improves. However, update I/O load on P-VOL is high, and this might affect the I/O performance of the host.

Update open/MF

Specify this parameter to change the Open/MF Consistency attribute (if the Open/MF Consistency Preservation function is used).

  • NO: Specify this option if you do not want to change the Open/MF consistency attribute. The Open/MF consistency attribute of the loaded copy group definition information will not be applied.

  • YES: Specify this option if you want to change the Open/MF consistency attribute. The Open/MF consistency attribute of the loaded copy group definition information will be applied.

Universal Replicator copy group

Item

Description

Pair state goto

Specify the final copy pair status after the copy pair operation terminates normally. The copy group will be monitored until all the copy pairs in the copy group change to this status or until one of the copy pairs changes to abnormal status.

  • As-Is: Performs a differential copy of the suspended copy pair without changing the current copy direction.

  • FORWARD: Copies the contents of the Primary site to the Secondary site.

  • REVERSE: Copies the contents of the Secondary site to the Primary site.

Volunit

Specify this parameter to determine whether to perform operations on copy groups on a volume basis and the operation order (the value of the VOLUNIT parameter of the YKRESYNC command).

  • NO: Performs operations on a group basis if this is supported by the environment.

  • LINEAR: Specify this option if you want to perform operations on a volume basis even in an environment where operations can be performed on a group basis, and to determine the operation order based on the order of definition in the copy group definition file.

  • DISPERSED: Specify this option if you want to perform operations on a volume basis even in an environment where operations can be performed on a group basis, and to optimize the operation order so that the journal groups to which the volumes belong are dispersed.

Resync mode

Specify this when using the Delta Resync function.

Specify the DELTAJNL, ALLJNL, PREPARE, or ERRCHK parameter for the YKRESYNC command.

You cannot select PREPARE, DELTAJNL, or ALLJNL from the dialog box displayed from the Pair Action menu.

  • N/A: Specify this option if you do not want to specify any of the following parameters.

  • DELTAJNL: Performs a Delta Resync.

  • ALLJNL: Performs a Delta Resync with full copy to resynchronize delta resync pairs.

  • PREPARE: Restores the HOLDER status copy pair to HOLD status.

  • DELTAJNL ERRCHK: Identifies the cause of an error during Delta Resync.

  • ALLJNL ERRCHK: Identifies the cause of an error during Delta Resync with full copy.
