Copy group action menu

There are two action menus: the copy group action menu and the pair action menu.

When you click the copy group ID display button in the copy group dashboard of the Dashboard tab, the copy group action menu appears as shown below.

Pair action menu

When you left click to select one or more rows other than the title row in the pair table of the cgPair tab and then right click the mouse, the pair action menu appears as shown below.

The selected rows become highlighted (the pair action menu will not appear if no rows are selected). If you execute Make, Suspend, Resync, Delete or Recover when multiple rows are selected, the pair operation will be performed on all the selected copy pairs. If you execute another action, the operation will be performed on the first of the selected copy pairs. If the copy pair operation on all the selected copy pairs terminates normally, their selection will be released.

The following table shows the operation when you select an action from the menu:

Action

Operation

Load

If the copy group of the clicked CGID is not loaded, the copy group will be loaded (if the copy group was successfully loaded, the background color of CGID turns green). If the BCM Web API server is not started, a connection to z/OSMF will be established, the BCM Web API server will be started, and then the copy group will be loaded. You might be asked to enter the user ID before the connection to z/OSMF is established.

Query

The monitor cycle will be run only once, targeting the copy group of the clicked CGID. The results will be displayed in another tab.

YKQUERY (in the case of Universal Replicator, YKSTATS and YKQEXCTG as well) will be executed.

Locate

A dialog box will appear for you to enter values for specifying a column value and locating a row.

Select a row by left clicking on the column position that you want to locate (the selected row will be highlighted), right click the column, select Locate, and enter a value in the dialog box that appears. The search for the row containing the value will start from the row following the selected row, and then the row that is searched for will be located.

Query primary volume

YKQRYDEV will be issued to the P-VOL of the selected copy pair, and the results will be displayed in the device information window.

Query secondary volume

YKQRYDEV will be issued to the S-VOL of the selected copy pair, and the results will be displayed in the device information window.

Make

The dialog box for specifying operation options will appear. If you specify an option and then click the OK button in the dialog box, the specified option will be used to execute YKMAKE to create copy pairs for the copy group.

Suspend

The dialog box for specifying operation options will appear. If you specify an option and then click the OK button in the dialog box, the specified option will be used to execute YKSUSPND to suspend copy pairs in the copy group.

Resync

The dialog box for specifying operation options will appear. If you specify an option and then click the OK button in the dialog box, the specified option will be used to execute YKRESYNC to resynchronize copy pairs in the copy group.

Delete

The dialog box for confirming operation will appear. If you click the OK button in the dialog box, YKDELETE will be executed to delete copy pairs from the copy group.

Recover

The dialog box for confirming operation will appear. If you click the OK button in the dialog box, YKRECVER will be executed to delete copy pairs from S-VOLs in the copy group.

Note 1: If the BCM Web API server is not started or the copy group is not loaded when an action is selected, the dialog box for specifying operation options will appear after the BCM Web API server is started and the copy group is loaded.

Note 2: If the YK7516I message appears after you close the dialog box for entering operation options, you cannot perform copy pair operations because the BCM Web API server is disconnected due to a timeout. After restarting the BCM Web API server, perform copy pair operations again.

Note 3: No operation can be performed while monitoring is in progress. The following dialog box appears and no action will be executed:

After an action is executed, the copy group will be monitored until all the copy pairs in the copy group change to the expected copy pair status (see below) or until one of the copy pairs changes to abnormal status.

Note 1: When an action other than the above is executed, the copy group monitoring will not be executed.

Note 2: If you are using a dialog box displayed from the pair action menu, the copy group monitoring will not be executed.

Note 3: If the action is Suspend, select the expected copy pair status from Pair state goto in the dialog box.

Note 4: Regarding copy group monitoring after an action is executed, only YKQUERY and YKGETGRP for obtaining pair status and YKQRYDEV (for ShadowImage only) for obtaining ATTIME information are executed. For this reason, the STATS tab and EXCTG tab are not displayed for copy group monitoring after an action is performed. Also, the interval is fixed at 60 seconds for execution regardless of the value of the interval parameter.
