You must set the virtual serial port on the HA800 G2/G3 servers to COM2 when you install the ESXi 8.0U3B custom ISO image from Hitachi Support Portal.
Verify that there is a stable connection between the laptop and the iLO console of the HA800 G2/G3 server.
- Log on to Hitachi Support Connect Portal using your credentials.
- On the Software Download tab, select UCP Advisor.
- From the Versions list, select version 4.7.0.
- Locate and download the HA_BiosTemplateupdate_com2.zip file a local directory on your laptop.
- Extract the HA_BiosTemplateupdate_com2.zip file.
- Navigate to the BiosTemplateupdate_com2\scripts\HA Bios Templates folder.
- Open the servers.csv file in a text editor.
- Add the IP address, username, and password of the HA800 server model in the following format:
- Save the servers.csv file and exit from the text editor.
- Navigate to the HA BiosTemplateupdate_com2 folder, right-click WinPython Command Prompt, and select Run as administrator.
- Enter the following command:
python.bat HA BiosTemplateupdate_com2.py
Press Enter to continue.
This command will read all the servers in the servers.csv file and will load the existing BIOS template from the server to verify if the template has the VirtualSerialPort set to COM2. If the VirtualSerialPort is not set to COM2, then the command will update the VirtualSerialPort to COM2 in the BIOS template, apply the template, and then reboot the server.
If the VirtualSerialPort is already set to COM2 in the existing BIOS template, then no changes will be made to the template.

Note: There will be a downtime during the server reboot.
You can verify the updated template in the
HA_BiosTemplateupdate_com2\scripts\HA_Bios_Templates folder. The
ilorest file will be updated with the IP address of the server.
