Use the following guidelines and suggested steps to resolve power on/power off issues on the following servers:
  • DS120/DS220/DS225/DS240
  • DS120 G2/DS220 G2
Condition:
When you power on or power off the DS120/ DS220, DS120/DS220 G2, DS225, and DS240 server models, the following error might be displayed:
Unable to set power state to <state> for the <Compute device>, caused by Authentication failed Check your username, password If error persists reset the BMC and retry after 10 minutes.
What it Means:
The server's BMC must be reset.
Corrective Action:
Reset the BMC:
  1. Using SSH, log on to the server's BMC, and then run the following command:
    reset sp
  2. Wait 10 minutes.
  3. Retry powering on or powering off the compute device.
