Troubleshooting Ethernet firmware upgrade issues

Use the following guidelines and suggested steps to help resolve Ethernet firmware upgrade issues.

Condition:

Upgrading the firmware on the Cisco 3048 management switch fails.

What it Means:

There is not enough free space available on the management switch flash drive to enable the firmware upgrade.

Corrective Action:

Ensure there is at least 0.95 GB of free space available on the management switch flash drive. You can free up space by performing the following:

1. Log on to the switch CLI.
2. Delete all the unnecessary files using the delete command.
3. Compact the existing firmware file. Enter:

   install all nxos bootflash:///<firmware filename> compact
