Uploading firmware for Brocade Fibre Channel G620 and G720 switches

Before you upgrade the firmware on your Brocade devices, you must manually copy the Brocade G620 and G720 firmware files to the switch firmware bundle, and then upload the switch firmware bundle to UCP Advisor. The Brocade firmware files are available from the Broadcom Hitachi Assist Portal via the Hitachi Support Connect portal.

Note: You must upload the firmware files separately for the G620 and G720 switches. These switches use separate firmware files for the same firmware version.
  1. Log on to the Hitachi Support Connect portal and download the following files:
    Note: A Hitachi login credential is required.
    • Download the switch firmware bundle:
      1. On the Software Download tab, select UCP Advisor.
      2. From the Versions list, select version 4.6.0.
      3. Locate and download the Switch07102024.zip file to a local directory.
    • Download the Brocade switch firmware files for your version of the UCP Advisor software:
      1. Click Downloads > Network Download > Broadcom Downloads.
      2. Log on to the Broadcom Hitachi Assist Portal at: https://www.broadcom.com/how-to-buy/hardware-partners/fibre-channel-networking/hitachi-vantara, and then download the Brocade switch firmware files. An email verification check is performed while logging in. If you are logging on to the Hitachi Assist Portal for the first time, then you must perform an export compliance check.
  1. Using an unzip utility, unzip the Switch07102024.zip firmware bundle.
  2. Navigate to the location where you downloaded the Brocade switch firmware files.
  3. Copy the Brocade switch firmware files from the G620 and G720 folders to the switch firmware bundle folder:

    For G620:

    Switches/Brocade/G620/v9.2.0a/

    For G720:

    Switches/Brocade/G720/v9.2.0a/
  4. Select all the files and folder within the switch firmware bundle folder and create a zip file using a zip utility.
    Verify that the following folder and files are selected before you create the zip file:
    • Switches folder
    • Metadata file
    • sha512sums file
    Note: Retain the original zip file name that you downloaded from the Hitachi Support site.
  5. Upload the newly created zip file to UCP Advisor.
