You can detach a datastore from one or more hosts or clusters. After a datastore is detached from a host or cluster, it is no longer available to that host or cluster.

CAUTION:
If you detach a datastore from all hosts and clusters, it will not be available for reattaching unless you present the logical unit to the host group on the storage system again and then remount it to the ESXi host from the vCenter.
  • Complete all the vCenter-related tasks. See Managing datastores.
  • Verify that a vCenter is registered and attached to the UCP system.
  • Migrate all virtual machines from the datastore before detaching it from a host or cluster.
  1. Browse to the storage system where you want to detach a datastore.
  2. Select Datastores > Detach.
  3. Enter the following:
    Storage System
Select a storage system from the list.
    Datastore
Select the datastore that you want to detach from the list.
Note: You can only select one datastore even if there are multiple hosts.
    Host or Cluster
Select a host or cluster. Only hosts and clusters where the datastore is attached are displayed.
    Note:

Click the Refresh icon to refresh the host or cluster information.

Refreshing vCenter requires a ucpAdmin role.

  4. Click Submit.
