Powering on/off or resetting compute nodes

You can turn power to a compute node on or off, or reset the power to a compute node that is not responding.

  1. Browse to the compute node that you want to power on/off or reset.
  2. From the Action menu in the List view or the Tile view, select Set Power On/Off or Power Reset.

    Depending on your choice, you see one of the following screenshots:

    Select from the following options:
    Orderly Shutdown
    Initiates OS shutdown before the system powers off, shutting down services and device drivers. This is the default.
    Immediate Shutdown
    This is a reset. It does not involve any OS shutdown.

  3. Type "Submit" in the input field, and then click Submit.
Power to the selected compute node is turned either on or off or the power is reset.
If for some reason a compute node is not responding, from the Action menu, select Power Reset to try to bring the compute node back online.
Note: You can also power-on or power-off the compute nodes using the PWR power switch from the Compute > Summary page.
