Creating a BIOS template

You can create a template of BIOS settings that can be applied to compute nodes.

Onboard the compute nodes to UCP Advisor that need BIOS setting configuration.

  1. Browse to the compute node where you want to add a new BIOS template.
  2. Click the compute tile, and select BIOS > BIOS Template > Create BIOS Template.
  3. Enter the following information:
    Name
    Enter a unique configuration name for the BIOS template. The name must be between 1 and 32 alphanumeric characters and cannot contain the following special characters: quotation (") or backslash (\).
    Boot Mode
    Select one of the following boot modes:
    • Legacy
    • UEFI
    Note: The default boot mode for HA810/ HA820 G2 and HA805/ HA810/HA815/HA820/HA825/HA840 G3 server models is UEFI.
    Boot Order 1 to 4
    Specify the sequence in which the devices are booted:
    • Hard Disk
    • CD/DVD
    • USB
    • Network
    • NVMe
    • ISO
    • Other
    Note:
    • NVMe, ISO, and Other boot orders are supported only on HA810/HA820 G2 and HA805/ HA810/HA815/HA820/HA825/HA840 G3 server models.
    • For HA800 G2/G3 series server models, the boot order must be available in the existing boot order list. You cannot add a new boot order when creating a new BIOS template.

  4. Enter any of the following optional settings. Leave the setting unchanged to retain its original value.
    CPU C6 State
    Enable or disable the power-saving CPU C6 state when the CPU is idle. You can also set it to Auto.
    Legacy OpROM
    Select a supported legacy option ROM (iSCSI or PXE), or disable the support.
    Note: This option is not supported on HA810/HA820 G2 and HA805/ HA810/HA815/HA820/HA825/HA840 G3 server models.
    NUMA
    Enable, disable, or retain the default setting for non-uniform memory access (NUMA).
    Turbo Mode
    Enable, disable, or retain the default turbo mode.
    Virtualization Technology
    Enable, disable, or retain the default mode for the use of virtualization technology (VT).
  5. Click Submit.
