Enabling Microsoft Active Directory on a Hitachi Advanced Server

You can enable Microsoft® Active Directory® for the BMC login on the following Hitachi Advanced Server models:

  • Hitachi Advanced Server DS120
  • Hitachi Advanced Server DS220
  • Hitachi Advanced Server DS225
  • Hitachi Advanced Server DS240
  1. Log in to BMC WebUI for the compute node where you want to enable Active Directory.
  2. Complete the DNS configuration:
    1. Click Settings > Network Settings > DNS Configuration.
    2. Enter the domain name for the server.
    3. Enter the DNS server that returns the IP address with the domain name.
    4. Click Save.
  3. Complete the Active Directory general settings:
    1. Click Settings > External User Services > Active directory Settings > General Settings.
    2. Select the Enable Active directory Authentication option.
    3. Enter the Secret Username and Secret Password for the secret account. This account is typically the account that allows computers to be added to Active Directory.
    4. Enter the Domain Name.
    5. Enter one or more Domain Controller Server addresses.
    6. Click Save.
      The BMC validates the domain name. If it fails, verify the DNS settings and records, and then click Save again.
  4. Complete the Active Directory role group settings:
    1. Click Settings > External User Services > Active directory Settings > Role Groups.
    2. Enter a Group Name and Group Domain (Domain Name), and then click Group Privilege.
    3. Click Save.
    4. (Optional) Select the KVM Access and VMedia Access options.
    5. Click Save.
  5. Log off of the BMC WebUI.
  6. Log in to the WebUI using your user account credentials. Do not log in using the domain credentials.
