You can edit the ESXi password on servers that are managed by UCP Advisor.

If you want to change the root password for a server, you must use the admin account that you used when the server was onboarded to UCP Advisor.

For information about supported server models and their respective password restrictions, see "Device username and password restrictions" in the Hitachi Unified Compute Platform (UCP) Advisor Software Installation Guide.

  • It is recommended to update the password only for the user with which the server is onboarded in UCP Advisor.
  • Verify that the server is managed by UCP Advisor.
  • Do not use any of the previous five passwords for the new password.
  • Verify that the new password meets the password requirements for the compute model.
  1. Browse to Systems > UCP System > Compute.
  2. Select one or more compute devices for which you want to update the ESXi password, either in the Tile view or the List view.
  3. Click the Edit ESXi Password icon.
  4. Enter the new password, and click Submit.
Note: You can also edit the ESXi password from the Compute > Summary page.
