Enable the SOL settings on ESXi servers to avoid SOL errors during node auto-discovery when deploying UCP Advisor or when expanding a UCP system.

  1. In a web browser, log on to an ESXi server as a user with Administrative privileges.
  2. Browse to Manage > System > Advanced settings.

  3. Set the value for the VMkernel.Boot.tty1Port key:
    • For DS120/DS220/DS225/DS240 and DS120/DS220 G2 servers, set the value to com2.
    • For HA800 G2 and G3 Series servers, set the value to com1.

  4. On the Services tab verify that the SSH and the ESXi Shell services are in the Running state.

  5. On the System tab, under the Default settings, set the VMkernel.Boot.logPort key to default.

  6. Reboot the ESXi server.
After the ESXi server is powered on, reverify that the SSH and the ESXi Shell services are in the Running state.
