You can enable the Serial-over-LAN (SOL) settings.

  1. In a web browser, log on to the BMC using IPv4 or FQDN.
  2. Select Remote Control, and then click Launch KVM.
  3. On the Power tab, select Reset Server or Power Cycle Server to reboot the server.

  4. Press the DEL key or the F2 key to enter the setup.
  5. On the Advanced tab, select Super IO Configuration.

  6. Click Serial Port 0 Configuration and Serial Port 1 Configuration to verify that the ports are enabled.

    Verify that the ports are enabled.

    If any port is disabled, you must enable it. Perform the following steps:

    1. Click Enable to enable the port.
    2. Press the F10 key and select Yes to save the configuration changes and reboot the server.
    3. After the server is rebooted, press the DEL key or the F2 key to enter the setup.
  7. On the Advanced tab, select Serial Port Console Redirection to verify that the SOL settings are enabled.

    The SOL under Console Redirection must be set to Enabled.

    If SOL is disabled, you must enable it. Perform the following steps:

    1. Log on to the BMC in a web browser.
    2. Navigate to Settings > SOL Settings.
    3. Select the SOL Enable checkbox.
    4. Click Save.
  8. Press the Esc key and click Yes to reboot the server.
Verify that SOL is communicating properly. Using IPMI, enter the following command:
ipmitool -I lanplus -H <Compute BMC IP>-U <username> -P ,Password> sol info
