Use the following guidelines and suggested steps to help resolve Ethernet firmware upgrade issues.

Condition:
Upgrading the firmware on the Cisco 3048 management switch fails.
What it Means:
There is not enough free space available on the management switch flash drive to enable the firmware upgrade.
Corrective Action:
Ensure there is at least 0.95 GB of free space available on the management switch flash drive. You can free up space by performing the following:
  • Log on to the switch CLI, and then delete all unnecessary files using the delete command.
  • Log on to the switch CLI, and then compact the existing firmware file using the following command:
    install all nxos bootflash:///<firmware filename> compact
