You can create, expand, and delete volumes, and present and unpresent them to an ESXi host. You can also create, delete, present, and unpresent multiple volumes to a single ESXi host, as well as present and unpresent a single volume to multiple ESXi hosts. You can also add or remove them from resource groups.
To view the volumes inventory:
- Browse to the storage system where you want to view volumes.
- Select Volumes.
The following information is displayed in the volumes inventory:
- Status
- The status of the volume.
- Volume ID
- The ID of the volume in hex or decimal values.
- Name
- The name of the volume.
- Number of paths
- The number of volume paths.
- Provision Type
- The type of provisioning: basic or dynamic provisioning (DP).
- Storage Pool
- The storage pool ID.
- Parity Group
- The name of the parity group.
- Volume Type
- The type of volume.
- Total Capacity
- The total amount of space in the volume.
- Resource Group
- The resource group ID.
- Capacity Saving
- The status or type of capacity saving:
- Disabled
- Compression
- Deduplication & Compression
- ALUA
- The ALUA mode of the volume.
