Creating a storage pool

You can create a storage pool with associated parity groups.

  1. Browse to the storage system where you want to create a storage pool.
  2. Select Storage Pools.
  3. Click Create Storage Pool.
  4. Enter the following:
    Pool Name
    Enter a name for the storage pool.
    Resource Group
    (Optional) Select a resource group.
    Note: Creating a storage pool on VSM is not supported.
    Pool Type
    Select the type of storage pool to be created.
  5. Add pool volumes:
    1. Select a parity group from the list. The drive type is determined by your selection.
    2. Enter the size of the allocated capacity (LDEV) to be created in the parity group and allocated to the storage pool.
    3. Click Add Volume to add the volume to the pool.
    4. Repeat steps 5a-c to create additional pool volumes, as needed.

  6. Enter a warning threshold rate (%) that is between 1 and 100.
  7. Enter a depletion threshold rate (%) that is between 1 and 100.
  8. (Optional) Toggle the slider to the right to enable deduplication (for DP pools only).

    The enable deduplication slider will only be available when the storage system has the deduplication and compression license installed and enabled.

  9. Click Submit.
  10. Click the Refresh icon to update the list information.
